1. Common Questions

1.1. What is process?
As a rough guide, a process is a program that Windows runs. There can be a multitude of processes running at the same time in operating system, and not all of them are displayed at the taskbar.
1.2. How can a user see the processes that are currently being run?
This can be done by at least two methods. First, you can press ctrl+alt+del combination and choose the appropriate bookmark there. Second, you can use iKnow Process Scanner program — it will show you all the necessary information with only double-click to be done.
1.3. Why should I know the meaning of each process?
Any of processes that you do not know may turn out to be a virus, spyware, adware or any other harmful program. The earlier you identify such process, the less damage will be caused to your data.
1.4. What is adware?
In general this type of programs is used for showing you advertisements. This may appear as constant pop-up windows in the browser or as changed homepage in Internet Explorer settings.
1.5. What is spyware?
These are harmful programs that are used for stealing of various information from your PC. E.g., trespassers can get access to your credit card information, online-banking systems, your mailbox passwords and ICQ account. One can only guess what troubles this may cause you.
1.6. Can I prevent the infection of my PC with spyware and adware? Will antivirus programs be of any help?
Yes, you can prevent the infection of your PC, but it is better to use special anti-spyware software instead of common antivirus programs.
1.7. What should be done if the computer is infected with spyware or adware?
You should install good anti-spyware software with updated databases and delete harmful program.
1.8. I have a question but I can not find the answer to it here.
Please send it to us via email or leave a message on our forum pages. We will certainly answer you.

2. Database Questions

2.1. The process is marked as spyware or adware in your database, but I know exactly that it is safe. What`s wrong?
The thing is that a safe program, as well as a harmful one, may be shown under the same name. Sometimes only spyware scanner can tell one from another. That is why a note that a process is marked as spyware or adware, should be read as «quite possible that this process is spyware».
2.2. What does the Security Risk field of your database mean?
This is the reference designation of danger level. 3 means the highest level of danger; immediate measures should be taken. 2 means that the process is not critically harmful. 1 means that process will cause you difficulties but it is not seriously dangerous. 0 means that the process is safe. You should remember, however, that this danger level is only probable. The exact answer can be given only by thorough anti-spyware software.
2.3. If the Security Risk is 1, does it mean that it is not obligatory to delete the process?
No. Your PC should be kept highly secure; each virus must be deleted.
2.4. I have entered the name of the process, but it is not listed in your database. Where can I get the information about this process?
You can send us an email (please identify the name of the process you are looking for) or write about it on our forum pages. We will try to find the information you need and add it to our database.
2.5. I have found inaccuracy in your database…
Please notify us about it via email or by leaving a message on our forum pages. We will correct it.
